.passport which is currently under a complete rebuild is a more secure system to allow users to login to your site from remote servers using a 2 way encryption arithmetical to keep data safe and secure between a connection allowing one server to authenticate a users on one server with the details on another server without having to redirect the user to the server with there log details making it much easier to log a user in your sites,
